Sorry, I see some of those sites are pay sites.

Contact ComplexNumber and see what he says as i think he knows the industry pretty well.

I'm going by memory as this site is blocked at work ... but I had success with posting a question on the unlockme forums.

I assume this is a mobile phone? If so have a look at the following site:-

I know it works and it's free as I used it to unlock my nokia phone about 6months ago. Good luck!

i'm afraid you'll have to. there isn't any other legal way. you can either contact your network who will unlock it for a small fee (about 20 quid), you could pay to have it unlocked over the internet using the IMEI number, r you could take it to a dealer who will do it. either way, you will have to pay.

you may have heard that flashing it will unlock it. it won't. the way it works is this: if you flash your (locked) phone with unbranded firmware, it will still be locked to your original network. however, if you flash an unlocked phone with branded firmware, it will lock it to that network.

what network are you on?

btw i've sent you a PM with some useful info.

The V3i is a CDMA phone... what would be the point of unlocking it?

Unlocking phones is ILLEGAL!

Maybe it's illegal where you live. But in the UK - which is where the OP is located - unlocking phones is most certainly legal.

This advice makes no sense at all. If it's legal for a dealer to unlock a phone with his phone unlocking software, why wouldn't it be legal for the OP to do it? And please don't say that the dealer is somehow licensed to do it. Almost any street market in the UK will have a stall run by someone who sells third party batteries and chargers and silly phone holsters; and that stall-holder will also have a laptop with which he unlocks phones for a tenner. Are all these market traders criminals? What about the second hand phone dealer who has a shop in my local town centre? Is he also a crook? Of course not. The mobile phone networks would have these people closed down in an instant if what they're doing was illegal.

Does ComplexNumber unlock phones for a price? Is that what his PM to the OP was about? Is that why the OP never came back to this thread? Enquiring minds want to know! :p

Stop being a Skin Flint. Go down to any Local Street Market and guaranteed, you will find a stall who will do it for about a Tenner, so haggle with him.
