Choices developed through the Wikipedia page:

Gecko HTML Layout Engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gecko_%28layout_engine%29)
Firefox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox)
Flock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flock_%28web_browser%29)
Iceweasel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iceweasel)
Madfox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madfox) (Discontinued)
Swiftfox (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiftfox)
Songbird (software) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Songbird_%28software%29)
Galeon (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galeon)
Epiphany (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphany_%28browser%29)
Kazehakase (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kazehakase)
Salamander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salamander_%28web_browser%29) (Discontinued)
SeaMonkey (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SeaMonkey)
Skipstone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skipstone)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_web_browsers_for_Unix/Linux

Discontinued Gecko HTML Layout Engine Web Browser for Unix/Linux left off the list. Along with all Other HTML Layout Engines & Text-based Web Browsers.

I left Songbird even though it is much more then a browser it does have basic Web Browser abilities and I have made the poll multiply choice if you use Songbird along with other dedicated Web Browsers.

The main differnce in this poll from other polls is that we are only talking about Gecko HTML Layout Engine (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gecko_%28layout_engine%29) web browser use in Unix/Linux.

Therefore, Opera, Konqueror, Dillo and others are not included in this poll.

I would like a 'no' option. You have just selected "no Option"....if you do not use a "Gecko HTML Layout Engine Web Browser for Unix/Linux" there is no need to reply.

I am aware this does not include Opera and Konqueror.

Firefox of course. Epiphany gets a close second for being neat and light, I just recently tried it. :)

Firefox, but only because of extensions. I'm currently in the process of becoming familiar with GTK+ programming so that I can write some Epiphany extensions. XUL is just too bloated.

Not to go too far off topic but Gecko is pretty bloated and from what I have heard, the codebase is hard to maintain. Apple has some benchmarks comparing Safari to other browsers (http://apple.com/safari/) in HTML Rendering and Javascript performance and it is generally up to twice as fast because it uses Webkit. It is now possible to compile Epiphany with Webkit (http://live.gnome.org/Epiphany/WebKit). That is what I am really looking for and the primary reason that I want to develop epiphany extensions. Epiphany is a light weight browser using the native GTK+ toolkit, it is simple and easy to use, and extensions are written in C for maximum performance. Once Epiphany starts using Webkit, it will be the best browser available for GNOME. I just hope other developers catch on and start writing extensions as well.

Epiphany but I constantly wish that distributions will start carrying webkit-gtk and versions of epiphany compiled against that.

That would be rather awsome.

Very good points you both have posted, it would be nice to create a Ubuntu Epiphany users group, where we all can pitch in the development of Epiphany extensions as a community.

I remember when Epiphany was the default web browser in Ubuntu. It would be nice to even see Canonical pitch in officially in the development of Epiphany.

They maybe already.

I started using Seamonkey in Puppy Linux because I can't get Ubuntu to work with my friend's wireless, and I've started to appreciate it's minimalist feel and speed. Frankly Firefox feels bloated now. Epiphany is nice too. The Seamonkey html editor is handy too for quick stuff.

I have to agree with you the Seamonkey Council has done a nice job of maintaining the Seamonkey.

Epiphany is the best browser !

It should be the default web browser in Ubuntu and every other distribution with gnome.
When I use firefox I feel like I'm using very weak, dated technology.

I use Firefox as it has many extensions that _really_ make my life easier. Other than that I like Epiphany the best.

You can't use the firefox extensions in Kazehakase like you can with Seamonkey, and even the ones that have been ported to Flock.

I have even used in the past some Firefox extensions in the Netscape Web Browser.

Kazehakase makes KDE look like GNOME option-wise.
