Just curious to see what everyone's favorite open source apps for Ubuntu are that aren't in the default repositories.

Compiz, but that's because I'm on Fiesty (it is in Gutsy's from what I hear)

compiz is in the feisty repos... in fact it is installed by default, you don't even need to install it...

The version of Audacious in the repositories doesn't play all of my files, and it lags when I play anything .ogg. There is also the version of Sonata in the repos that's given me issues that I've had to install from an outside source.
In terms of applications not in the repositories at all, the Deluge bittorrent client is pretty good. Considering there's no good client for Gnome (although even with the extra KDE libraries, Ktorrent is pretty easy on memory)

The procedure for requesting (and contributing; you don't have to be a MOTU) new Universe packages is described at http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=2487111&postcount=1.
