I agree, I haven't had a BSOD on XP or Vista in years (well not Vista, I've only had it for months).

But that would be nice, it could mean you could stop the BSOD lol.

Visual C++ 6 would ask whether you wanted to restart computer after installing. If you clicked no it'd tell you it has to and restart anyway.

Another example of Microsoft giving the illusion of choice
