Greetings,
For a power-editor I prefer using emacs, but there ARE times when only VI is available. So, every now and then, I fire VI up to see if I can remember how to do things. (I generally have to go through a re-learning process.)
Today, in the update, I noticed one of the installs was for VIM, which is something new to me. So, I've tried it, with the help of a tutorial for VIM that I found by googling. It seems that not everything that is in the tutorial (OR in the man page for vim!) is available. Examples are:
Open mode verbs: A, I, o, O, C, and possibly R
I was also surprised to see that verbs i and a, which do work, seem to first show the typing one does at the last line, and only after hitting the <esc> do they then appear where the cursor was originally. I don't recall that happening that way in the old fashioned vi, but maybe I don't recall all that well.
Comments, anyone?
