Anyone know what is wrong with my laptop its an Packard Bell Easynote C3300.
It has a new hard drive 1gig ram. All of sudden it just died. I thought it may have overheated so left it for all while. I went to turn it on and the power lights come on but the screen is blank, it will not boot? Anyone any ideas?

No I have not tried another screen. Will give that a go?

Mother board failure sounds serious is it?

Yes a motherboard failure is serious - If that is what has happened it will be expensive to sort out unless you have a guarantee.

if its got a new hard drive, then that is unlickly to be the problem, and becose most things on laptops are integrated onto the mobo, failure of anything could case a big problem, but as i sed erlier, i am no expert, most of my knolage comes form this, and other web forums

it really could be anything...

one trick that has worked a few times for me, remove the battery, as start the machine on AC power ONLY.
