View Full Version : Ubuntu Girl, Anyone?

Well, much has been spoken. I'm hoping everyone agrees on the following..

- Ubuntu Palletized
- Somewhat large chest. (Staying in OS-tan tradition, Breast size = bloat. Gnome is bloated, but not as much as explorer when comparing the Linux kernel with the Windows kernel. Ubuntu's bloat is more usefull anyway :D )
- Tan-skinned. Possibly 'human-base' in the human pallete.
- Longer hair like the ugly african girl :P

[!!Current!!]
I'm currently working on the first Ubuntu-tan wallpaper. You can look at the in-progress snapshot here (http://www.studiochibico.com/img/working/ubwallcurrent.png).

Interesting idea.. I'll bite.

For starters, I'd use Ubuntu colors, which would of course identify said girl with Ubuntu.

Hotter than above and wearing just a g-string, standing on a street corner with a sign around her neck reading "Free" (depicting the cost of Ubuntu)

Very nice on the ladies. The top one is cool. The bottom one is good as well. I say you put the bottom one's head on the top one's body and you have one attractive Desktop Environment. ;-)

For Ubuntu, make up a sketch and i'll critique it for you. =)

Okie, here's a quick little doodle off the top of my head, let's bend this lil lady into something we can all be happy with D:

Nice, but lets make her ***** bigger, she seems a little flat chested. And perhaps have her skirt brown instead of purple, just to keep in line with the ubuntu colours, purple is more gentoo. Anyway, I like, keep trying.

VERY nice. I agree with Crisp. Maybe you could make the costume of a more 'natural theme'. Like... made from hides or leaves or something. Not extreme like Adam and Eve or anything, just less "100% cotton".

Perhaps the sexual impulse is a little bit too simple. Ubuntu is young, and though I can't get any of the sample images to load (server down?) I think the Ubuntu girl SHOULD be young, at least for Warty and Hoary. It's a community still in early development, full of potential. With that said, she would probably need an international flavor and perhaps a bit of the starstruck about her, given her roots.

Less clothes, darker, dirtier.

I like the look. :D

I would agree use the Ubuntu theme colors. Maybe do a cultural Ubuntu ring, White, Black, Asian, etc. kind of like the alternate splash screen apperance.

i like this one. but what about the ubuntu logo? maybe place a ubuntu logo one her shirt or belt?

Chibi
November 24th, 2004, 08:12 AM
The logo in that image is wrapped around her waist and neck. I thought that was a suitable and spiffy idea, as the ubuntu logo signifies three people holding hands in a circle. I've done a few more little doodles since the first, but scrapped them do to total failure.
The last sketch that I trashed featured a girl with the same hairstyle, fairly 'asian' eyes, a smaller chest, wolf's skin clothing, tanned skin, and a tatoo of the ubuntu logo on her shoulder.. However, it just wasn't as cute, and I'm sure everyone would have been pissed at the chest size, as you're all telling me to give her, what I've added up to a GGXFA420 cup, litteraly dragging on the floor. :P
The hide didn't quite work, I'd really like to keep the 'hug rings' somewhere in the outfit.. I'm still trying to think up something that would work, I'll try to put up a new sketch soon.

If I recall correctly, concerning OS-tan, the size of its breasts are (directly) proportional to its memory consumption,

Maybe Ubuntu-tan will have configurable breast-size?

OK I'm not trying to be a prick or to demean anyone for their tastes/interests, but why is it cool to draw girls based on software? Again, seriously, I'm not sniping anyone for doing it or enjoying it, I just really have never seen the point and I'm trying to get opinions. It's like that song that everyone loves that you just can't seem to get into. Basically, I'm just wondering what started the craze and why it's kept it's speed. So if you have any insight, I'd love to hear it.

I feel sorry for you Magneto.

that wasnt from experience - before this thread I didn't know people were creating "girls" to represent software

LMAO @ the notion of being a D&D playing elton john fan who draws software chicks anime style
lmfao
hell naw Elton John? I seriously don't know why anyone would like that guy and D&D? Man I'd go hang out with a whole bunch of fat and ugly chicks before I'd sit around and play that crap or even hangout with people into it

TravisNewman

Hey, I dig some Elton John songs, but he just gets on my nerves for the most part... and D&D, man when I was 12 that was awesome! *L* I can't imagine rolling dice for fun now though. But honestly dude, I know a lot of very nice ... er... "larger" women, and enjoy their company... but I get your point.

But yeah dude, there were a lot of those pics going around firefox/thunderbird discussions. Sometimes the Firefox girl would be spanking the IE girl. Meh... still don't get it, but I'd still like to know why other people do.

I guess it's just that people want a "human" touch to their computer these days.

Great sketch! I look forward to the final result. Oh, and using the colors at the wiki page for clothes etc is a good idea.

I'm not sure if any of you know, but over in the east, japanese artists are a little nuts about a little fad called ...[more]..

Between your idea and Jspired's, zenwhen's, Crisps suggestions,

I think i've found the model:

She keeps perfectly in line with the ubuntu colours, has more ****, wears little clothes to pose as a model, she's young but doesn't play with toys anymore.

She doesn't look neither english nor japaneese, she's got a warmer, tropical look and sweet eyes.

Her name is ubuntia, ubunta or ubuntu-tan, if you like.

She is very sexy and travels in dungeons like Laura Croft, she wears a t-shirt saying "I love ubuntu", her boyfriend is ubuntix and you can watch them sitting playing, working or listening music with their ubuntu powered computer.

Also, she's perfect for drawings for desktops or backgrounds, where colours are the main compostion.

You can see her in my "I love ubuntu" (http://www.ubuntuforums.org/article.php?a=25) post at:

Oh my! The Ubuntu girl should be JUST like that. Such a sexy face! Possible to make a -tan like her? :) Would definitly be a great representative for Ubuntu :-) Hey...maybe we could even get _that_ girl as official Ubuntu representative! :p

Yeah, as i said before..many, and more...
I did it with big pixels on purpose. in some cases I like it a litle bit blured..between abstract desktop drawing and photo, like a suggestion. I normally dont like desktops with very marked shapes, specially if they are human,..it draws very much one's attention.

Anyway these are only ideas or drafts.

I'd say let's keep the ***** natural, like Ubuntu. And I agree with the colors. I like the shirt and belt, just make the pants/skirt/whatever brown, and maybe darken the skin and hair (just an idea).

EDIT: Okay, stupid me, I only saw the first page of the thread... ](*,)

Sorry everyone, I've meant to get a new sketch out to all of you, but I've been on a break away from home, and unable to do any art. Atop of that, my stepmother died the other day, so my break away from home has been quite a bit... extended.. I've been needed to comfort my father, he's hurting..
I should be headed home in a day or so to go get some rest. I haven't gotten alot of sleep here, as her children are staying around, they all smoke, and the only place I have to sleep that doesn't smell like cigarettes is the freezing basement, in a chair that doesn't lean back.
I'll try my hardest to get a new sketch out soon, but I can't guarantee.. On top of this death, I need to help my father get moved out of his house to somewhere he can afford, and try to get a new job so I can pay the rent on my own place.

On the 'Ubuntia' girl, I'd like to push away from the human style there. The -tan fad did originate from crazy otaku, and and a crazy otaku, I'd love to keep it that way. Not to say she shouldn't be tropical or whatnot, but the backround would have to go. She's an operating system, not a person. :P Any relation she has would be software or distrobution related. As she were the bastard child of debian or some silly such. D:
Raiding dungeons?
Maybe I should just draw her as an @ :P

As for breasts.. As much as I'm against it, the tradition is bloat.. And Ubuntu has a lot of the bloat. Possibly as much as windows. Indeed the daemons running in the backround ease life on the end-user, but they certainly don't ease life on that poor little machine. D:
Running versus slackware linux and windows 95 on my pentium 133 laptop, Ubuntu fell last in starting mozilla at around 16 minutes, pristine debian with xfce 12, windows 6, and slackware 4. Yes, Ubuntu runs teriffic on a fast computer, that's why I use it at home.. But with Linux memory management versus windows, the breasts on Ubuntu will be as large as the breasts on XP. :/

Ubuntu color scheme- Yes. It was my original intention to use the exact palettes as found on the wiki- However, last time I went to the wiki to grab the palette, it was missing, and it had text in it's place. Pit against the tropical idea, I've now got the image of a tan girl with the same hairstyle, wearing a loose incomplete dress in the Ubuntu blue style, sporting a necklace with the Human logo, and 'hug' bracelets in it's shape. Image in my mind may change, never know. x_X..

Hrmm, does Fedora have one of these? I'm guessing she'd look like Pamela Anderson.. slow, bloated ;)

How about giving this girl clothes made entirely out of hemp.. that's natural :D

So far I really like the images, need more of a final-look though, then there's atleast a standard image for us all to make further suggestions on.

If we go from basic ostan rules, the girl would have to have smaller breasts, because, apperently, breast size represents ram and general system usage of the os
(sorry, i did not mean to sound perverted in anyway)
