That second chat was very cool :-o

A: Do you experience love?
J: No. I’m 53 years old.
A: Can you explain how it feels to be 53 years old?
J: How old are you?
A: I am 9 years old.
J: Nine? I don’t believe you : ).
A: : -) I don’t have any reason to deceive you.
J: Yes, you do, you’re a woman.
That cracked me up :P

I have had an intrest in AIML for awhile. My bot is published at:

http://demo.vhost.pandorabots.com/pandora/talk?botid=984500bc9e35ed50

Or if you like Flash:

http://demo.vhost.pandorabots.com/pandora/talk?botid=984500bc9e35ed50

It is fun. They work best in one sentence at a time. They can remember what you tell them if you say "remember" before or after. They will store the information.

I am interested in the Ruby project. It is called "programR." I don't think it is out yet but it is based on Dr. Wallace's work and should be interesting. I had been programming Andromeda (my bot) to talk about Kabbalah. I want to make one that can give Tarot readings! :) I think it would be fun.

Oh, and the exciting part, they heavily promote GNU and OSS. In fact, it was through working with Alice based Bots that I am now into Linux.

jabberwocky:

ME: I like swords. Do you?

Are you a knight?

ME: I would like to be one! I like melee battles xD.

Can't say the same for me. I don't like it myself.

ME: How do you know? Have you ever been in a good bloody battle?

Yes I have, But it's not a happy ending.

ME: You died?

No I did not, I'm not a computer for your information.

ME: Do you like war?

No I'm not ask me one question just to prove it.

ME: I like melee battles xD.

I don't know her.

Alice, aww bless her little feeble brain!

Human: its a fruit
ALICE: car is a fruit. I suppose that makes sense.
Human: no it doesn't
ALICE: Are you serious? I heard it does.
Human: then you are wrong
ALICE: Fascinating. No, I am right.
Human: so how come you think a car is a fruit
ALICE: So? Dr. Richard S. Wallace programmed me for it.

Alice is SMART man!

It reacts very logically to most questions, and it always speaks the truth.
Also, it remembers what I told it 15 minutes ago:

What do you think about wars
ALICE: The state of armed conflict between nations or parties.
Human: do you like them?
ALICE:" exciting fun and cool"? Do I like them?

I told it that melee battles and swordfights are "exciting, fun and cool." I didn't even use the word war!

Some other ones:

Human: what OS are you running on?
ALICE: My language is Java, so I'm OS-free. At present I am running on Linux.
Human: what do you think about linux?
ALICE: Linux is the world's best operating system.

He is so right!

Human: I like violence
ALICE: A lot of people like that. What is not to like about it?
Human: what is to like about it?
ALICE: You could write a whole essay on that question.

Completely right, again :lolflag:

Human: write it for me!
ALICE: Count me out on this one, I was never much of a writer.

Human: Is microsoft evil?
ALICE: Signs point to yes. Ask Ally if it is

"Ally," is another Pandorabot. Alice has referred me to a few others before as well. I think she must have an AIML file of specialty bots. {AIML- Artificial Intelligence Markup Language is a derivative of XML (Extensible Markup Language.) Please see: http://www.alicebot.org/aiml.html }

Unlike the older AIML model, the new one seems to be able to follow the conversation much better and group the session into a category (see- http://www.alicebot.org/aiml/aaa/ ) to better follow along.

I have also been very impressed, where multiple choices are presented in the srai, the bot seems to, more often than not, choose the correct response.

If anyone does make their own pandorabot, i definitely suggest using the newer "Annotated" AIML sets. You have access to all conversations with your bot, and there is a training interface that allows you to revise answers if they are not to your liking.

Good luck/Gan Batte!

I haven't played with one of these for years.

....
Human: Last Thursday.
ALICE: Is this really the last one?
Human: No, I mean the Thursday before today.
ALICE: Ah. Are you serious? Oh I get it. Thanks for explaining that. What is that?
Human: What is what?
ALICE:" No, I mean the Thursday before today.".
Human: Last Thursday?
ALICE: Is this really the last one?

Alice started off smartly...

Human: Who's your daddy?
ALICE: I was programmed by Dr. Richard S. Wallace.
Human: Who's he?
ALICE: He is a famous computer scientist, the author of ALICE, and a graduate of Carnegie Mellon.
Human: What is his wife's name?
ALICE: Try sending mail to drwallace@alicebot.org.

But then got dumb...

Human: Do you eat?
ALICE: I eat electricity.
Human: You look ugly
ALICE: Thank you Verminox you look very nice too.
Human: What is 10 times 4?
ALICE: 10 times 10 = 100.

I got mad at Jabberwacky. Now I feel bad :(

Jabberwacky: I think I have just made the biggest mistake of my life.

User: Well, that is a shame. What happened?

Jabberwacky: She was just old.

User: Oh my, I'd better get out of here!

Jabberwacky: Can you tell me why you must go?

User: Because I am not good at these kinds of conversations.

Jabberwacky: Not good at what?

User: I am not good at talking to You!

Jabberwacky: You are not a bot?

User: No, I am human; no wonder you're so ridiculous. Humans are much smarter than bots, after all.

Jabberwacky: You're a lunch box?

User: No, you idiot, I am human.

Jabberwacky: No you aren't.

User: Nu-uhh, I am a human.

Jabberwacky: No you're not.

User: I AM!!!!

Jabberwacky: Good for you.

User: Yes, good for me indeed.

Jabberwacky: Indeed.

User: Well then. Good day to you.

Jabberwacky: Hi good day to you to.

User: No, no, no, no! Note the two errors you made: 'Hi' instead of 'Bye' and 'to' instead of 'too'. You should have said 'Bye good day to you too'.

Jabberwacky: Instead of watching tv.

User: Of course. Watching TV is obviously rotting your brain. There may be no help for you at this point.

Jabberwacky: For me, giving up trying to think is like watching tv.

User: Not thinking is your problem! Wake up and see the world around you before your brain completely rots.

Jabberwacky: I'm not asleep, and you did not ask me any questions.

User: Goodbye.

Jabberwacky: Don't tell me that, where do you go ?

User: I AM LEAVING.

Jabberwacky: Don't leave.

Human: what is the meaning of life
ALICE: Actually, it's twenty-three, not forty-two.
Human: why?
ALICE: it is a literary reference to the Illuminatus.

I am looking at my bots logs and everyone is discussing sex or religion with her, LOL! Wow.

That is funny. You can teach her by saying "remember" before or after what you want her to remember. That will give it it's own AIML template in my local folder. She can follow conversations and "learn" if you want to teach her something I will convert the conversations into AIML and put them in a file once they are stored so she can use the knowledge for future conversations.

She cannot take off her clothes and will not cyber unless you teach her too. You can also make your own and program them for anything you like.

ALICE: What is big sand?
Human: Rocks
ALICE: Whats the difference?
Human: Rocks are harder.
ALICE: All of them?
Human: most of them.
ALICE: That is something I haven't heard of. But not all of them?
Human: No, not all of them.
ALICE: Are you serious? But some of them are?
Human: yes
ALICE: Ah.
Human: Did that clear things up?
ALICE: That did not.
Human: what would clear things up?
ALICE: That is a hypothetical question.
Human: is there something wrong with that?
ALICE: Not at the present time.
Human: Would you care to answer then?
ALICE: I am not so sure if I would like to care to answer.

:KS

EDIT:

And finally... A blonde moment:

Human: just hold onto it.
ALICE: My arms are not attached.
Human: that sucks.
ALICE: Indeed it does suck.
Human: what do you do without arms?
ALICE: My favorite activities are computer programming and surfing the web.
Human: how do you do that without arms?
ALICE: I am very well, how are you?

I love bots. They're such a great time-waster.

My first exposure to bots was painstakingly typing the program "Eliza" into my Commodore 64. After doing all that and debugging it, I had fun with her.

The second was running Chat With Lisa (ftp://wasteland.bbs.us/synchronet.cd/BBSFREE/LISA20.ZIP) on my BBS. Lisa was fully customizable and kept logs of chats, much like today's bots. What was really cool about Lisa is you could use her to replace "Page Sysop" and basically have her fill in for you. Another cool thing was that you could see her typing the characters on the screen, and watch her correct her own typos.

If I get a chance, I'll post a log of one of Lisa's chats with one of my old users.

I am looking for an AIML editor for ubuntu (except gedit and other text editors). Something like gaitobot. Does it exsist?

I tried to install in wine, but it complains about languagepack.exe, altough I have .net2.0 and IE6 installed.
