How many people actually type out commands or just copy and paste when following linux instructions from online message boards? I have to admit sometimes the version numbers get a little out of hand!

If I'm typing a command I know, I'll type it (I have nowhere to copy it from). But if I'm following a tutorial, I copy and paste.

I copy and paste unless it's a tiny command.

Sorry for the somewhat elderly joke.

You said first 'me, too' and then added that we needed another option.
I then asked if that option should read 'me, too'.
Since that is pronounced like 'Me 2', someone added the even more elderly joke 'Me 3'.

did you know that most people use right-click>copy and then paste's it on to a command line.
But there is a better way....simply highlight the text press the rolly button in the middle and press it again on the command line.that should do the job... ;)

In principle, yes. In reality, I somehow manage to get two copies of the text for the price of one click practically every time.

It all depends on the situation I'm in.

If, let's say I'm installing the latest, most rad version of compiz then I'll copy&paste. But if I'm installing software, I usually just type out the command (because switching windows and using GUIs are annoying and not fun).

I'll usually copy and paste. Unless I already know the commands, but I needed the sequence/use of them.

Depends mainly on the complexity of the commands. If they're simple, I type them in myself, but if they're complex and full of little brackets, quotes and other characters that must be entered just right or bad things will happen, then I definately copy&paste.
