Does any one else do this? In Windows almost ever app I use has an icon on the desktop, some what organized into groups. In Ubuntu, not a single desktop icon. I don't know why, but I just can't stand a desktop icon in Ubuntu.

I can't stand the bajillion icons on Windows desktops. That's one of my favorite things about Ubuntu; You can put things in these amazing things called PANELS and MENUS, whereas in Windows you clog up your toolbar with windows, incons, notifications, and other crap.

Never have any icons on Desktop. I best like them in menus or in Kiba-dock the six most used applications.

I never had icons on the desktop when i used windows, i had a shortcut to folders with each specific applications shortcut in them on the taskbar. I don't have shortcuts on my desktop in ubuntu either, i'm very organised. :)

I some going horizontally across the top of my screen :) Just links to my hard drives.

And three going horizontally in the bottom left, which are ut2004, neverwinter nights and jedi knight academy :)

When I had windows almost half my screen was covered with icons, all with those hideous little shortcut arrows :P

I usually put my most used apps on the toolbar (Firefox, Thunderbird, Terminal), that way, I don't have to go through any menus.

My Ubuntu Desktop space is completely clean. But even my Windows desktop only has 1 icon.. I chose to clutter up my space with a dock and a sidebar tho :(

Only icon I have is the deleted items one and that goes in the bottom right corner - which is well out of the way when your resolution is 2960x1050 !

People that have icons all over their Windows desktop drive me insane. It just reeks of noobishness...I don't even know why it bothers me, but this is a pet peeve of mine :-s

I treat the desktop as my computer desk. Notes posted all over it, files im working on etc. Its always looking messy but when finished with the files then then get filed. I find using a desktop as a "desktop" is quite efficient
