At Michael's suggestion here's the obligatory "Where are you from thread?"
I'm currently in Mandeville. (Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain) Other than the commute to Metairie every day, it is a great place to be.

I, too, live in Monroe (originally from Shreveport).
I'm a huge Ubuntu fan, having climbed on board with Warty and never looked back. I even still have original free cds of each release (yeah, I know they're not necessarily collector's items, but I'm a packrat).
I've both taken and offered advice on the forums since 2004 and have always been impressed with the level of support from all the members here.
Thanx Axxium for giving LA a voice for our Ubuntu pride!

Sweet will do, at school right now so my time is limited. Trying to get my school to let me install linux on some computers to let the school experience it without having to install it on their computers first.

Hey guys,
I have not joined the LoCo yet but I'm in Gloster, just south of Shreveport. Running Ubuntu 6.06 on an old P3 with 256MB RAM. I've got newer boxes but this old box does about all I need, however Gusty has kinda caught my eye. Just recently retired so I ought to have more time to play around with Ubuntu. :lolflag:

From Pineville, across the woods from wharp. Also just applied for membership.
Macbook Pro is my main machine, but I also have 7.10 running in Parallels and on another PC sitting at my desk. Always interested in the open source philosophy and spreading the concept of vendor neutral data storage and access.

Comparative noob; retired sailor in Metairie. Gradually converting to Ubuntu. One thing is certain; I have given Bill Gates the last $ he will get from me. Have long had a policy of not using Mickeysoft when anything else was available. Started with a CP/M Osborne I in mid 80's.
Started with 9.1 on an Asus eee900 Netbook, which made it useable; have converted several desktops to dual boot. Finally have Ubuntu machines working on Windows Network thanks to Forums.

I'm really concerned about schools forcing XP Vista Win7 on the students. I recently did a repair for a young man whos assignment required him to use MS Power Point for a homework assignment. I couldn't convince the teacher that Openoffice was a more viable alternative.
