Just became one 12 day's ago..
Just writing these couple of lines is a challenge, not energy left at all.
But man, I look into my baby's eyes and everything is worthwhile, it's really magic.

Lots of luck and happiness.

I'm going to join the club in a couple of months, too!

No problem regarding the lack of sleep, I already sleep 3 / 4 hours a day. I'll probably miss the time I used to have to do other things, though :P

But man... it'll all be worth it, I'm sure.

BTW, what are yours named / going to be named?

Mine's Guilherme, which is Portuguese for "William" / "Wilhelm". So, I have a Bill on the way :)

Oh well.. My Portuguese is not the best anyway.

By the way, Lisbon is a beautiful city. I was there four years ago, and enjoyed the warm climate and the company of many nice Portuguese people. I`ll be back some day...

it is really tough at the beginning if it is your first, our daughter is 4.7 months old and she just started sleeping through the nights, there still never seems to be enough time in the day and going out with her is so crazy takes us 45 minutes to pack up her stuff. Well worth it tho it truly is a feeling that cant be described.

congratulations, best of luck to you and yours

Congratulations, man.
I am a father of 3 children, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It's well worth it.
Yes, children are *expensive* creatures, as you will no doubt discover in the next few months -- just try buying a whole bedroom suite for a babies room cheaply!

When baby is born, be prepared for sleepless nights, and make sure to let your boss know-- you are almost certainly entitled to parental leave of some sort.
I would personally try to get a fortnight off when the baby is born, as the first few weeks are the most sleepless as baby wakes to feed at 2 in the morning, and she gives you the bottle and asks you to feed baby, and change him/her.
Be prepared for smelly nappies, and endless bouts of buying baby clothes, as babies grow fast -- you might be as well to find friends or relatives with babygros they aren't using and use them for the few weeks that they will fit the baby. Yes, they will only fit for about 6 weeks, before baby grows out of them.

Otherwise, good luck, and don't be scared to come in here and ask for advice on children, as there are a fair few parents in here, with plenty of experience.

Congrats! =D>

Prepare to be amazed. People always say it, but your outlook well completely change the first time you see your new child. You won't believe how the meaning of the word "future" changes. For the better.

As the father of a three year old, a two year old and an 8 month old, congrats!

Truth be told, it's not as hard as people make it out to be. Just keep in mind that if you add to the herd it doesn't double or triple the workload; it increases it by orders of magnitude.
