View Full Version : Really funny apt error

I was running fsck in recovery mode hoping to fix some errors, but discovered I had a dying hard drive. While I was playing, I noticed a message that said "dircolors was not installed. To install type: apt-get install dircolors." I wasn't sure what this was so I said what the heck. After trying to install it I got the error: apt-get: command not found. To install apt type: apt-get install apt. I had lost so much data by this time that is wasn't even recognizing apt as a command. At least something was funny about the situation. :lolflag:

I've had that error before, but I just ran fsck manually and it fixed everything.

thats a bug

every time i dont have my USB hard drive plugged in when i start ubuntu, it drops down to console mode saying that fsck failed because its missing a hard drive (the one that isnt plugged in) and it says a lot of weird stuff like apt dircolors and something else isnt installed, but i just type exit and it boots normally.

that happened to me too once, it made me fall over laughing. Then i reinstalled
