Hey guys,

Can you help me translate the following phrase into as many languages as possible, so that it sounds correct without any twisted automated translation services? =)

"Don't follow the crowd. Go linux."

Thanks!

Danish. Literally "Go against the stream. Pick LInux." but if you want it more literally it's

I think the sentence Don't follow the crowd. Go linux is rooted in Western culture and would be difficlut to translate to Asian languages, especially the `go Linux` part.
Also ` don`t follow the crowd` doesn`t have the same connotations in every culture.

Just one thing: in portuguese, it is "Não siga a multidão. Vá de linux" or "Não siga a multidão. Use Linux" ;-)

Portuguese can be a very tricky language. Brazilian portuguese, I mean.

Bulgarian:
"Не следвайте другите, използвайте Линукс"

Literally, "Don't follow the others, use Linux"

Edited:
Another version would be "Не следвайте тълпата, изберете Линукс" [Don't follow the crowd, choose Linux], sounding well in Bulgarian.
"Go Linux" just doesn't have an exact translation in Bulgarian (or at least I'm not aware of one).

Don't use that, it's not a correct translation. My own take for Spanish would be:

No sigas al rebaño. Usa Linux.

I used "rebaño", which means "herd" instead of other words because I think it conveys better the meaning of the original phrase.

Latin (possibly mistranslated, mine is old)

Turba non prosequor, Linux ite!

The last is actually in the imperative, meaning literally, "Go, Linux!"

I don't mean to be pretentious, but I thought most people realised that machine translators are useless for anything beyond basic comprehension texts. You certainly can't use them for translating into other languages!

Whats wrong with that? Its probably a dialect confusion then.
Just try to get as may different dialects for one language you can so you can have a lot of people more interested.

Also persiges means follow, so does sigas. Usa means use, vayan means go (roughly), and muchedumbre means crowd, rebaño means heard (but then the people who will read that would thing you are trying to trick them and just turn them into a heard of sheep that will follow you in what ever you say ;)).

Probably. I wasn't sure how to translate it and it contained no forbidden letters (j, k, w, y, z if I remember correctly) so I left it as is.

I know that the last bit should be strictly speaking something else but I can't remember the right case or ending.

I guess that it all depends of where you are standing, since Spanish changes from place to place, in my case "rebaño" does not sounds right because it leads me to believe that you are calling humans a bunch of cows, "grupo de gente" (group of people or crowd) I think it would be a more general term since it pretty much means the same everywhere Spanish is spoken .

Just my 2 cents.

Whats wrong with that? Its probably a dialect confusion then.

No. The grammar is wrong.

The previous translation is not correct for the following reasons:
The noun muchedumbre is feminine, therefore the correct article is "la".
The sentence "Don't follow" implies a Negative Imperative; in Spanish this is noted with the use of the Subjunctive Mood, therefore the correct form of the verb is "persigas". The Subjunctive Mood gives a lot of trouble.
Although not necessarily an error, there is a mismatch in the forms of the verbs persigas and vayan; the former is singular and the latter is plural.

No persigas la muchedumbre, ve Linux. (2nd Person Singular)
No persigáis la muchedumbre, id Linux. (2nd Person Plural, usually in Spain)
No persiga la muchedumbre, vaya Linux. (2nd Person Singular, with Usted)
No persigan la muchedumbre, vayan Linux. (2nd Person Plural, with Ustedes)
In Spanish the use of prepositions is almost obligated with verbs that take objects; let's say it sounds better that way.

No persigas a la muchedumbre, ve con Linux.
No persigáis a la muchedumbre, id con Linux.
No persiga a la muchedumbre, vaya con Linux.
No persigan a la muchedumbre, vayan con Linux.
Since Linux is computer software, the verb usar sounds better than ir. In this context seguir sounds better than perseguir. Also, a short sentence sounds way better, so any noun is better than muchedumbre.

no sigas al grupo, usa Linux

No sigas al rebaño. Usa Linux.

I used "rebaño", which means "herd" instead of other words because I think it conveys better the meaning of the original phrase.

They both sound okay.

Another one:

No sigas a los demás. Usa Linux.
"Don't follow [the] others. Use Linux."
