Ok, we have a couple quotes from places to make up Ubuntu T-shirts for the group to be worn at events. The T-shirts would be as follows:

5180 HANES 100% BEEFY-TŪ

6.1 oz., 100% ring-spun cotton (Ash 99% cotton/1% polyester, Light Steel 90% cotton/10% polyester). Double needle hems. Taped shoulder-to-shoulder.

Sizes: S, M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL

Color: White

We haven't finalized exactly what's going to be on them but there will be a color ubuntu logo on the front and back. Possibly "ubunu" under the logo on the front and a small phrase having to do with ubuntu on the back.

The bottom line, how much would each person be willing to pay? Right now I have a first time cost of $18 per t-shirt. This is because they need to make up the screens for the colors which will be $200. I am willing to put up the money for this one time cost to bring down the cost for everyone else. If people were to pay $15 per t-shirt it would cover the cost of the shirts and pay me back about half of the screening cost which is fine by me.

So bottom line, I would like to throw $15 out there per t-shirt. Going forward if/when we get more members and we need to order more, we could lessen the cost or put the extra money toward the group to help pay for cost of installfests and other events.

Let me know what you guys think. This is sort of an ASAP thing so please post your responses if you have them :)

I'd be willing to pay $15-20 for an Ubuntu shirt. When would they be distributed? I'm going to be in Michigan at the next meeting, but that's probably before the T shirts would be ready...

But yeah, sounds good to me.

If we put in the order this week or possibly next, I can have them ready by the 25th for the proposed installfest date, possibly the 23rd which is our next meeting.

The cafepress store charges $14 per t-shirt plus shipping. In the longrun, the local place I have is cheaper. Not to mention offer a lot more products if need be.

I personally like darker colored shirts. Black with a full sized Ubuntu logo on the front and the definition of Ubuntu written on the back would be cool. I'll pay up to $20.

sounds reasonable to me.

bulk orders get a discount and it might be good to have so that anybody can buy from it. we could get ours through the store by you and also have a cafepress store for anybody who wants a shirt?

This is a markup Doctormo did. Personally I would like to see the small logo on the front and large on the back with some phrase. What do you all think?

I agree, I like the small logo front/large logo back.
Also, I don't know how much more it would cost but what about some polo's (small logo front only)? I think it would look at least semi-professional.

Ok, this is the final design.

Now I need sizes. We're ordering 24 total for now. I will be ordering a couple XL's and a couple mediums. The rest will be larges and whatever sizes people request. I'll be submitting the order Sunday the 12th so it gets processed for Monday the 13th. We HOPE to have these by the 23rd to hand out at our monthly meeting. Worse case we'll have them by the 25th for the Installfest.

definitely go with the small logo on the front and large on back. perhaps the ubuntu name on back and just logo on front, or maybe the ma loco logo on front and main ubuntu w/name on back?

or you could find the logo's you like and vectorise them (inkscape).enlarge them. print them on to t-shirt paper you feed thru inkjet printers and make your own for next to nothing

There should be plenty to go around.

UPDATE: The order has been put it and we have an ETA of next Wednesday the 22nd. Right in time for our monthly meeting. So if you would like to pick up your shirt, oh and join the meeting too, the meeting point should be around John Harvards Brewhouse in Harvard Square again at 7pm. Hope to see many of you there!

I know this is an older topic, but if more t-shirts are needed I can probably get them cheaper then what you are getting them for now. I go to a vocational school which has a Graphics Department, My girlfriend is in that department and can make us Ubuntu T-shirts, with no labor costs, no ink costs and no screen costs. We would just have to pay for the T-Shirt it self, and there would be no shipping because I could get them my self from her.

I will update with prices later tonight.

This sounds like a fantastic deal. Are there any shirts for people have joined the group since the last meeting? I plan on going to the MIT Media Lab on Thurs... and getting a shirt would be a good thing.

Unfortunately, we only have a couple woman's tshirts left. We are working on a new deal now to get them even cheaper though. Stay tuned.

Just to add, I'm a new user and would love another shirt to go with my official one I just bought :) so whatever new method we use to get shirts soon, I'm in!

Edit: just to clarify, new Ubuntu-MA member, not new Linux or Ubuntu user :)
