What keyboard shortcuts do you use?

I've been meaning to learn some keyboard shortcuts but don't want to go through them all and pick out good ones, so i'd like to know what people here use so I can see the popular (and hopefully useful) ones.

Preferably include the Desktop environment you use them on as well, there's no point someone using KDE trying to get them to work if they only work on GNOME

Well, I've mapped Caps Lock to Ctrl on GNOME, and use Ctrl-Alt-D to show the desktop... and I occasionally use Alt-F2 to run commands. I've also mapped F1 to open and close Tilda, and I use Ctrl-Alt-Fx to go to other virtual terminals.

I mapped my Menu key to Super.
<Super>+L - nautilus ~/documents
<Super>+<return> - close window
<Super>+O - run command dialog
<Super>+/ - gnome-terminal --geometry 155x30
<Super>+P - main menu

<Super>+<equals> - zoom in
<Super>+<minus> - zoom out
<Super>+<keypad direction> - move window to direction
<Super>+C - qalculate
<Super>+F - kayali
<Super>+M - maximize window
<Super>+<up> - scale windows
<Super>+<left> or <right> - switch desktop <left> or <right>
<Super>+<Ctrl>+<left> or <right> - switch desktop with window

And many more, but those are the main ones.

I use just a few such as
ctrl-s
ctrl-c
ctrl-v
ctrl-p
Whenever I repeatedly use the same command or series of commands, I take a look at the menues and use the shortcuts mentioned there. If I am about to use the same commands an inordinate number of times, I might even RTFM.

When I am done with a particular piece of work, I forget the short cuts within a few minutes, usually, unless one strikes me as particularly useful or memorable.
