View Full Version : [SOLVED] Calculator for development?

Hi there,

I'm looking for a calculator (preferably designed for KDE) that fits my development needs:

- hex / decimal / octal / binary modes
- trigonometric stuff

ie. *at least* equivalent to MSFT's Calc in "scientific" mode. Anything more would be added bonus.

Surprisingly enough it's the only Windows application I miss on Ubuntu :D

Any suggestions?

EDIT: I lied... I forgot that I also sometimes miss the Character Table (in Unicode mode) ;)

So, what is wrong with kcalc?

Well... nothing's wrong with KCalc itself... it fits perfectly my needs :D

What's wrong IMHO is that package descriptions in Adept / Synaptic are not very useful when you don't know which very application or package you're looking for... (though that's obviously not specific to KCalc) but I can live with it thanks to these forums :D. And KCalc is not included in the default Kubuntu desktop so I didn't even know it existed :p

Thanks for the help Herman ;)

Wow, that is weird - I have always had kcalc with KDE based distributions, but I must admit that I have never used Kubuntu...

Try Kcharselect it's okay IMHO.
