Computex (http://apcmag.com/news/computex), PC Hardware (http://apcmag.com/pchardware)A quick fly through the ASUS stand opened out eyes to some new possibilities today -- organic computing (and we don't mean OLED).
Continuing their theme of adding leather, carbon fibre and wood to notebook finishes, ASUS was showing off a notebook using bamboo in place of more traditional aluminium and magnesium (externally of course).
Apparently it's lighter, stronger and cheaper. Can't argue with that.
Now you can legitimately tell people you got wood in Computex.

Any fire concerns, making computer cases out of organic materials?

It would certainly suck to have your computer overheat or the power supply short out, and have the whole darn thing literally go up in flames....

+1. With the price of perfectly serviceable second-hand P4 laptops now, I can see casemods becoming really popular. Maybe I'll actually get around to making my 1950s style bakelite laptop afterall. Thanks Vista!

Those are some pretty sharp looking laptops, I think they would sell a lot of them.

Those are some pretty sharp looking laptops, I think they would sell a lot of them.

Overall, I agree they are beautiful laptops, Bamboo is quite duarable and makes a laptop look more classy and more expensive looking.

I was thinking they would be great with an inlayed Ubuntu logo...

These Bamboo laptops are simply the most beautiful classy looking laptops I have ever seen...better then anything Apple has ever come out with...

I would diffinately buy one also... ;)
