The project is NOW getting started. See the above link for info, and to signup for Phase 1 (Cleanup and Setup)

Briefly, LTSP is the Linux Terminal Server Project. We are setting up and instructing the Mt Airy Learning Tree Computer Volunteer Group on how to implement and administer this in a 'Classroom' style environment.

This should prove to be an interesting and exciting project, so I hope that you can get involved.

No knowledge of LTSP is required. This can and will be a 'learn as we go' project.

If you are uncomfortable with editing the wiki page, just leave a post here to the forum and we will add you to the volunteer list for PHASE 1.

This will be an ongoing project, so if you can't make PHASE 1, keep checking this forum thread for info on upcoming Phases of this project.

Please get involved, that's what this is all about.

Whenever possible, we will try to make major 'Phases' of the project on Saturdays, so that other REGIONS can roadtrip and get involved.

It looks as if the August 18th Tentative Date

MAY BE CHANGED

due to advance scheduling of the date, and the fact that everyone had events previously scheduled.

But, there is usually something going on at MALT CVG

EVERY WEDNESDAY NIGHT 7 to 9 PM

For Example, Wed 8/8 an Ubuntu dual boot install is planned, and a possible demo of a LTSP system while the install is doing the boring stuff.

This is a very organic project, see as we go. The install came out of thin air. Things come up suddenly. The greater presence that we can develop, will lead to more Ubuntu projects with the group.

We will try to keep this thread regularly updated with any info.

this is looking good. so far we have myself, randy, jim, ben, and alex going the CVG this wed. don't worry about last minute changes in your schedule. we should be able to get by with just two people. as jim said, it's the presense that matters.

For the acronymically challenged :

MALT = Mt Airy Learning Tree

CVG = Computer Volunteer Group of MALT

Sorry, I know this gets confusing. I just want to clarify it because we use both interchangeably.

For our purposes, currently, they mean the same thing.

Hope this helps.
