Hack windows xp activation

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

OK, I installed XP on laptop. Laptop broke.

Installed that copy on win xp (home sp2) on my desktop. Went to activate - said somethiong about reaching the maximum number of installs from this copy of windows.

So, this is probs illegal, but how do I hack it to make it stop saying I'm running out of time (6 days) And no, I'm not ringing them up!

I've heard of several people having reached the maximum number of installs from this copy of windows. That's all I can say. Don't know what they did about it.

Could Partimage solve this problem??

Is bypassing / cracking the activation legal? assuming that the copy of windows is genuine.

The 30 days activation thing is pure evil.

I don't know about any illegal things to suggest on these forums... so I can't and won't :)

No this really isn't happenning on our forum.

Phone up Microsoft, explain the problem and they will give you a new activation code to get things going.
