If I was developing a <whisper>commercial</whisper> application to run on <mumble>windows</mumble>, and that application would be of most use to people who have to use Windows as well as Ubuntu - i.e. a Windows - Linux interop tool - would it be considered spam to post here requesting beta testers?
I know it's slightly off topic, but it might end up here anyway if I didn' check first.
Cheers,
Tim

I genuinely appreciate you asking first. Thank you for the good attitude--it is noted.
I'm sorry, this would likely be considered spam. That isn't an absolute, though. A lot would depend on the following:
Can you give us some more details on what you are developing? (ie website, etc) You can send me a PM, that I will share among the members of the Forum Council, if you don't want to post it yet.
How mature is the project? Are you about to roll out a release? Are you just getting started?
What benefit will your beta testers receive from helping you out?
Will we be able to justify allowing this to be posted as an exception to our usual policy? How?
We may have more questions, and we may decide to say "no, we can't allow this" even if we love your answers...giving us a bit more info will help us think this through and discuss it, however. Thanks.

I'd also like to thank you for checking in with us first -- that's awesome judgment on your part!
Please do follow up with Matthew, and we'll take a look at it.
