I figure it's about time we come up with a team logo, so if anyone is graphically inclined and would like to give it a shot, post your attempts in this thread. I'll probably give it a go myself -- with the added challenge of using GIMP only... wish me luck.

Note that the logo has to be approved by someone, although I don't remember who and I don't remember where I read this (it was somewhere in the wiki). If I find the page again, I'll post it here. Unlike some of the other teams, we may want to consider keeping the logo simple enough so that it can be resized into a Launchpad icon; any high level of detail will be lost in the resizing.

Should it follow the already designed Loco Team logo? This logo can be found on the DIY marketing site.

You mean the banner? That banner can be used, as its format has already been approved, but we aren't limited to it. Most of the other US LoCo teams use the Ubuntu logo (just the circle) overlaid onto the outline of their state, or something to that effect. Others use state branding, such as state flags or state animals. And still some US team don't have a logo. That's also an option. There's no mandate that we must have a logo. Personally, I don't see a team logo as being necessary, but it does a bit of polish to the wiki/web site.

For examples of team logos, look at the Kentucky Team (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KentuckyTeam), the Colorado Team (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ColoradoTeam), the Pennsylvania Team (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PennsylvaniaTeam), and the Ohio Team (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/OhioTeam).

I see now. Yes I like the idea. I'll start thinking of drafts and someone with more photo skill can do them much nicer.
