Pardon the ignorance of the uninitiated, but what's Grand Central and why would someone want an invite to it? Another new social network? Some other new startup?

Basically it's a service (just bought by Google) that allows you to have 1 phone number and be able to route calls to your cell/house phone etc. depending on the time of the day, the person calling and also allows you to have different voice mails set up for different people. So you could have a professional one for all of your business contacts and a more personal/friendly one for friends and family.

I was looking in my account to figure out how to send invites, but then found out that GrandCentral invites are down. They supposedly have been shut off for a while now. The only way to get a number is to apply for one and wait, it's only about 2 weeks. (Well, when I signed up about a year ago.)
