Had a totaly crazy idea for home desktops called localized secutity which may help Linux in the home desktop market in the future. Though the current sytem of permitions is great and ive learn't to respect its strengths many users want windows drag and drop and though this may not be good and insecure it may be an option for the home desktop.

Something like this could be done with local authentication for devices that are totaly locked out from external networks such as a keyboard, mouse, cdroms and terminal (though terminal may use exzisting protacols) for certain things etc. This requires special code that ethenticates the keyboard etc and locks out any remote access to this code in affect securing the keyboard that is set up and phisicly ttacked to the computer which would identify and stop access from external sources such as keyboard spoofing etc.

What this does is allow the file manager to drag and drop set up in root without the possiblility of external userage and hopefully create a secure enviorment to do so. Certain programs may have keys that interact with the keyboard and file manager and possibly programs such as file roller that deal with file managment. In affect the keyboard becomes a secure device and enviorment with its security protocols interacting with file managment. Similar to a finger print reader but a secure keyboard instead.

ALso any external (network) input would have to work the old tried and proven way with exzisting protocals and the only difference would be it would not be able to access the keyboard or mouse (mouse clicks). The exsisting base system would still be there but a desktop running this could not be spoofed offering future security in a different way.

Anyways that my crazy idea.
Cheers.
