There are many threads here that discuss various issues related to mobile phones or PDAs or (more recently) SmartPhones. But, bottom line, ultimate question is: WHICH ONE LOVES UBUNTU? WHICH ONE RECOGNIZES AND SYNC WITH UBUNTU EASILY?

So, for those experienced: please, help us ignorants, and tell us what would be the best SmartPhone to bye? Palm, iPAQ or BlackBerry?

Palm seems to do well with Linux, in general. Also, there are some iPAQs that can run Familiar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Familiar_Linux), which can "fall in love" with Ubuntu easily. Finally, BlackBerry is well supported with Google and one can sync Ubuntu with Google and Google with BlackBerry. Some additional interesting possibilities are offered by Motorola with A780, A1200 etc. But, it seems that those Linux-based SmartPhones are to be synced with the Windows (it is almost sarcastic, to my opinion).

Best,

Palm phones should pretty much work out of the box, and the app for it is in the system menu. It is passable to make most phones work via ether bluetooth or cable (sometimes both), but it requires you to follow some guides and it might not be as streamlined as the palm-phones. Do a search before buying a phone to find out if you will be able to use thoose features in the way you want.

I don't think ubuntu supports linux based phones any better than windows based, which is a real shame!

Please drop a post in this thread if you think there should be put more love and care into this matter:

Good luck on buying a new phone!
