hi i just installed a vb application through wine it uses a ms sql server but it cant connect to the server..

You are probably going to need to supply more information. Maybe the name of the program, or the type of connection (ODBC, OLEDB, etc.).
If you think it is a general networking issue, you could always run a program like "ethereal" to see if traffic is going out over port 1433.
