I'm not exactly a trusted mouth of ubuntuforums.org, but gnome-look.org has TONS of wicked-crazy wallpapers. :) I love my current theme...it's sorta 'middle-age'-ish :)

I can up a bunch in my "favourites" folder to my webspace tomorrow, I'm sure you'll dig some of them if not seen already.

interfacelift.com is a very good site for wallpapers. Deviantart is also a very good place to find pictures, and occasionally, wikipedia. I found my current wallpaper from wikipedia at least

I always just grab a picture of Xtina, SMG, or Jessica Alba, etc. and make my own -- or get one of my much more talented friends to make one for me :P

Here's how I got mine:

1. Go to pub
2. Buy nice pint of ale
3. Drink about half
4. Take picture of top of pint
5. Fiddle about a bit in GIMP with colours/saturation/etc
6. Voila: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v191/shen-an-doah/u1501shot.png

I ALWAYS use graffiti for my backgrounds. Sometimes I take the pictures myself, as there's some decent stuff going on near my apartment, but I have the urge to head up near the rail station in Takoma DC which has some incredible graffiti. It's actually probably very close to you, RAV.

Here's a link to my current background: http://www.norwichanarchists.org/media/smartpage_pics/PICT1422.JPG

But a lot of the stuff you'll find online is staged/artistic graffiti, and really doesn't have that street energy that you get from the real stuff. Anyway, I find graffiti very inspirational when getting to work on a web design, or writing my next big Craigslist R&R :^)

Make lunch your background. (ie chipotle burrito (http://blogs.menupages.com/boston/Chipotle.jpg))

I didn't even at Chipotle today and I still think that'd be a pretty tight BG. =]

That's really gross, and so is Chipotle's food. Their wrapped burrito-thing looks like I cleaned up after my dog with some Reynolds Wrap.

the first one looks like a planet from outer space and the second one looks like a reflection off an astranaut's visor on the moon. too bad NASA has spent so much money and gone through such efforts when all they had to do was let their faces fall in a half drunk pint of beer. i'm going to try that.

later, that same afternoon...

works pretty well with coffee, too.
