Mouse because I find it to be smoother than the touch pad, it's especially easier for games!

Mouse. The only time I use my touchpad is if my right hand is occupied as it's easier to use with my left hand. The buttons are good for if I want to keep my mouse in one place and just keep clicking (like on a next button or something). Other than that, only if my mouse isn't connected for some reason...

I'd use a mouse with this laptop if I had one.

And the irony is that even as I am more comfortable with a mouse, I am slowly learning more and more keyboard shortcuts that keep me from using it. :)

I prefer the mouse. Especially when the mouse is a Logitech mouse with more then 7 buttons lol.

I use the touchpad. Most of what I do on my laptop is not mouse intensive, so I never bothered getting a mouse for it.

The touchpad on a powerbook is silky smooth (using OS X) and with two-finger or three-finger scroll and tap, you can do quite a bit from the touchpad.

Two-finger, click brings up the right-click menu. You can also customize other types of scrolling and tapping with iScroll2.

When you are outside, sitting under a tree, there's no place to put a mouse.

I like to use a mouse. I work much faster with a mouse. The touch pad just slows my work down.](*,)

The touch pad is so much easier to use in my opinion. I can get from point A to point B with the touchpad much quicker than I can with a mouse. And scrolling is one smooth motion as opposed to continually scrolling the mouse wheel.

But I use the keyboard more than anything, I'm a bit of a CLI lover.

Mouse, but I use both.

I find a touchpad hard to use. Agh. I can't stand using the touchpad. I much prefer a trackpoint. But even a trackpoint is not as good as a real mouse.

I prefer using a digitized pen like the one on the Fujitsu Lifebook T4220 convertible(laptop/tablet)

If you would've asked me a year ago, I would've laughed at the thought of a touchpad...but now...I can't seem to use a mouse like I could. I'm too used to using my finger around.

A mouse, it's hard to use blender with the touchpad :). Touchpads have a mind of their own sometimes.

They do, don't they?
Hmm...I wonder why?

Touchpads that I've used were horrid, they give me the worst cramps in my wrist :/

trackpoints are however nice but nothing beats the mouse :)

Neither, as an extern mouse is not always available (especially during commuting) and the touchpad always felt very clunky to me. So I'm trying to do as much as humanly possible with the keyboard.

The poll needs a 'depends' option. If I have my laptop on my laptop and I am outdoors somewhere (perhaps at the airport) a mouse, even if I prefer it, is useless or hard to use :)

I don't own a laptop, but I've used one a few times. Touchpads are crap.
Those red nipple things on IBM laptops are superb.

Back when I still bothered to use my Tablet, I actually preferred that to a mouse. Though I did keep putting the pen down and forgetting where it was...
