I want help in ubuntu 7.04
I have this message in the last install step in the boot

[ ! ! ] Detect and mount CD-ROM
Error reading Release file
The CD-ROM does not seem to contain avalid ' Release ' file , or that file could not be read correctly.
you may try to repeat CD-ROM detection but , even if it does succeed th second time , you may
experience problems later in the installation

if you download the iso file try to check it before burning in a cd .. you can follow the steps here
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM for the operating system you use now

and try to burn the iso file in a good burner like deepburner.com (there is a free version for windows) or k3b or brasero on linux ..

and it is always better to burn in low speed (16 - 24 is fair enough for me ) ..

the last solution maybe is to get an already burned - working cd from a friend ..

Thank for you jadelrab very much to replay but this was not useful
I was did you step to burn iso in deepburner program to 16x and I was check this iso ubuntu-7.04-alternate-i386
and subsequently I have this message on check "MD5 Check Sums are the same"
but this was not useful and either I was not have a friend to get an already burned

I was have this problems in Detect and mount CD-ROM step
1- Enter PCMCIA resource range options : -------------------------
2- and after this message it want to enter an empty parameter list
tune CD-ROM drive parameters with hdparm ? --------------------------

Nots to my Computer :
Motherboard : ASUS Pentium 4
Processor : Intel 2.80 GHz
Ram : 1.24 GB
Are this useful to install Ubuntu ??

actually i think we miss something here ..

i was talking about creating a live cd and using the install gui to install

it is always the recommended way to get ubuntu on your machine

i think you use alternative cd so that you got troubles in details of your machine

anyway .. where are you from ?
i think that i can find someone near you has a live ubuntu cd ..
or you can join us and ask in irc channel #ubuntu-eg@irc.freenode.net
