Hi guys . I am remastering ubuntu and have compiled my own kernel for it . After some palying around , i amanged to get it to work but it doesnt seem to recognize all my usb devices , such as usb sticks or mice. This has happened in every other OS except kubuntu/ubuntu. What does ubuntu have that makes the detections for this? Some special patches to the kernel? If so , i would like to know what patches please! Also , ubuntu is the only Os that detected that i should have acpi=off instead of on. I dont think this should be included in a help topic since ubuntu works great for me

If it's a pre-built computer not a home-built one, can you add it to the wiki.ubuntu.com list so anyone else who gets that model knows it needs acpi=off

I will but there are also problems other then that , for example , my usb slots dont work on any other kernel then ubuntu's.

is it posssible that because i do acpi=off on every other distro , my usb slots dont work?If so , does ubuntu use something other then acpi?
