Just started using ubuntu this week and so far i love it!

the question I have is, there is so much cool stuff, how can you find out about it all in one easy place? I might not know I want something til i see it!

also, anyone know a good book to learn the command line for a total noob?

search through add/remove programs, in the right upper corner select all programs from the menu, and theres also synaptic package manager, tons of stuff in there, never know what you might find, www.sourceforge.com, just a few

I second what Ocxic says. I've been using Linux for just over a year now, and with more than 20,000 packages in Synaptic I am still coming across gems all the time. Don't expect to find everything at once. Keep an eye on the forums and whenever someone raves about a particular app, try it out. And use Synaptic as your catalogue and installer. Remember that you can also use Synaptic to uninstall something if you decide it's not for you.

The command line is like a 4th dimention to linux - you don't need it if you are happy sticking to GUI applications, however it is one of the hidden treasures of Linux. You don't need to buy a book on it, there are loads of free tutorials. Here's a nice one that someone pointed me to just this evening...
