Ubuntu unstable? or is it just me?

Hi folks!

I'm using Ubuntu for a few months right now, and I see everyone likes it (including me).
But now things changed a bit.

Please check out this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=258065#post258065) tread I posted.

This was the first time I tought I might just as well get back to Windows... why is this happening? It's really going from bad to worse and I don't really trust my Ubuntu system anymore. Today it works, but how about tomorrow? Can anyone tell me what to do now? I really don't want to give up Ubuntu.

yeah im seeing this my self, as Ubuntu team start to add more "security" patches and things like that Ubuntu becomes more unstable, I also remember when Firefox was very stable and well now...
and my ubuntu os is unstable

i use hardy at home and i've had hardy on one of my work computers since alpha 5.

ive only had to reboot my work computer for kernel updates... other than that, its rock solid.

i think most problems regarding freezing or random lock ups have to do with strange hardware.

{edit} just realized this is an archaic thread!

I use 7.10 on my laptop and my desktop and it's been stable from day one. I go months without turning my desktop off, although my laptop generally get turned off daily. I haven't tried 8.04, but I think I might wait a couple of months before upgrading.
