Hi everyone.

I'm a part of the Free Culture (http://www.freeculture.org/) Movement, which, like Ubuntu, places extreme emphasis on Free Software and Community. I think Ubuntu would be a perfect way for me to help introduce people to Free Software and Free Culture, and I already have plans to order CD's to hand out for free at meetings. ( I myself have been using Ubuntu for several months now off and on, absolutely love it, and will be switching to an Ubuntu AMD64 Laptop full-time in the next few weeks. )

What I'm wondering is whether it would be legal to sell copies of the Ubuntu DVDs (Live CD + Install CD). I know that for the 99% of software on the CD is Free Software, and so it is of course legal to sell that. What I'm worried about is the 1% proprietary software. Is it legal to distribute that software for a fee?

I should probably be asking the Ubuntu team about this, but I was hoping someone might be able to point me to where this information might be listed, or perhaps someone has asked this question in the past?

Thanks in advance guys. Heres to keeping the spirit of Ubuntu going! ;-)

I can settle this right now- it is ok for you to sell those DVDs. Other online stores do.

Great! :) Thanks a lot for the quick response. Apparently the binary drivers are licensed for commercial reditribution as well. Good to know. Well, again, thank you.
