Hi

I am attempting my first project. I want to achieve a GTK front end which allows you to select an iso file, or device, graphically select the parameters required and mount it.

I understand this is probably largely pointless... But.. this is my aim for my first project. I am hoping this should be achievable for someone like me that has no experience of using Anjuta IDE and Glade Interface Designer. Am I already heading down the wrong route with the selection of those tools?

Would anyone be able to help me get started with this?

Look, when you said "I understand this is probably largely pointless... But.. this is my aim for my first project" you are hardly going to get any support.

Next point, if this is your first project I wouldn't recommend using glade or any other tools. It is simple and you dont need anything except a text editor, like vim. And, since you are doing this to learn (I think this is the point) glade wont help you at all.

Like gpolo pointed out it's probably easier to try something else first - unless of course you already know some programming language?

For now i'm making small bash scripts and using zenity to add proper interfaces. Nothing fancy really but it helps me learn. I don't know if you would be interested in writing your program in that first and later when you know more re-write it with something else? I can send you an example of what i've done - it's fairly easy to understand and I think it will be fairly easy to do what you want this way.
