I am interested in what my fellow linux friends listen to when they are on the computer either coding, playing around, or doing anything else in general.

Bands I listen to:

BT
Fluke
Cloak
Monkey Mafia
Crazy Frog
Carl Cox
Orbital
Phunky Data
John Lydon
Cirrus
Chicane
Brooklyn Bouce
Simon Boswell
Bryan Adams

and many more....

Anything that rocks, basically. Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, BB King...anything.

Yes I have actually if I remember correctly, I haven't been on it in over a month and a half, my user page is here (http://www.last.fm/user/rednikon/). Anyway the main reason I ask here is because I am out in the desert, Iraqi more specifically, and they have blocked a lot of access to a lot of things. These forums are one of the few places I can still get to.

At the moment I'm in a Ska period. (My music listening habits vary pretty much). It's (mostly) a really happy kind of music, which helps keep the mood up. Some Oasis songs can also sneak into the playlist.

I recommend The Liptones if you're looking for some really great Ska. The music is a little bit Punk-ish, which makes it really nice.

Back when I pirated photoshop, I listened to "I love my religion" by bad computer all the time when I was making stuff in it.

I haven't really had any projects or anything on my computer lately, but when I'm thinking, I tend to open up my Stepmania files and listen to random songs. Nothing gets the brain juice going like Waka Laka or Cocoa Bill...

A bit of classic Death Metal or some old video-game remixes.

Almost always Phish or another jam-band similar to them for me...

For some reason, working on a long computer issue lets me relate to the long solos by jam bands.

I usually don't listen to music when programming or coding, but if I do listen to music it is usually Black Metal. Favourites are: Mayhem (with Per Ohlin), Darkthrone, Burzum, and a few others.

Cradle of Filth are quite good, although I think they have commercialised a bit too much. Gorgoroth are a good black metal band that have stayed true to their roots.
