View Full Version : SFD - Library Giveaway Computers

Note: Started a new thing, let's divide post titles into things like "SFD" for the Software Freedom Day install fest and maybe "July Fest" for the one in July.

We have to decide a number of things about these computers:

Software can we use to image them
Enabled repos
Extra software to install
Do we enable codecs
Where are we moving them to to image them, and how?

I'll update this post with solutions as they are decided, and any other questions that may arise.

We should install codecs that wouldn't have any legal issues and then tell them how to get the other codecs if they want them. Also that one guy that was at the last meeting said he had a trialer to store/transport the computers.

Just a thought, let's wait to see if we get them first before making too many plans at this point:)

As far as what to put on them, anything with a license outside of the GPL is not something that we can install by default unless we can activate the license on the first use of the software.

The people these are intended for should not have a whole lot of use for Codecs right away. I hope they are used for school work, etc. But on another note, We can print the license perhaps and tell the people they have to accept the license to take the computer?
