Just want to make sure I'm still on the right planet and in the right dimension.

I'm referring to the ******* contest that Microsoft has started regarding the alleged patents infringements et al and anything else regarding free Software in general.

On Mark Shuttleworth's blog he told them to bugger off (http://www.markshuttleworth.com/) (scroll down to "We have declined to discuss any agreement with Microsoft under the threat of unspecified patent infringements." yet you can download Ubuntu from Microsoft's website (http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/details.aspx?view=info&itemid=3411347#productSpecs). How funny is that?!

...or am I missing something? ;)

Windowsmarket place is an online part of Vista. It's a way to get people to buy or upgrade software directly from Microsoft. You can also upgrade your windows version on there. If you try to upgrade your version of vista from within vista you are taken to this site. I think it's a good thing that Microsoft are letting people check out Linux. It shows a little goodwill in a market where there is very little goodwill. And having Linux on there is also getting them alot more hits, especially from a Linux community who would very rarely visit n MS site. I think it's a very smart move because it makes MS look good and also shows that they dont hate Linux. Many Linux sites are quite bad at PR sometimes because they show the ugly, nasty and hateful side of the Linux community.... especially the nutjobs who post alot of anti-MS hate. People don't like to be insulted for the software and hardware they use.

Looks like Microsoft caught up with events seen as the page to download Ubuntu has now been removed.

Was funny while it lasted though...:D
