I know there is a limit on use of images but i thought there should be a useless thread dedicated to people's workspaces. If there is an existing thread point me at it.

Here's my space. A tip.

Mod's feel free to delete thread if it's a waste of server space.

That's pretty slick, but, being that the forums are generally about Ubuntu in some form or another, I would recommend perhaps getting a better resolution / image so we might not only see how you theme your living space, but, your desktop as well...

That being said, I'll happily contribute to this thread later this evening with my own shots and perhaps external links to make server load a bit easier.

that must be back in the days when keyboards were solid, not the cheapo plastic you get now!:-)

I've since moved the system to the other corner of the room, but considering it is a small house I am still looking to replace it with a laptop (that and the ability to put it up high, out of the reach of the kids)

yeah, I like the simplistic/minimalist approach, I guess that's why I am using GNOME somewhat ;) and I shot this picture with a fairly good camera without flash, so it actually looks better than it is in reality! Nothing was changed after the shot though (no GIMPing).

The computer central unit is not shown in the picture, it is under the table somewhere, it's just a boring black tower. Ah, how I wish I had an intel-based graphic card that outputted DVI !

The mouse pad? Its an Xtrac Ripper , one of the best pads I've ever used & What kind of KVM are you looking at that costs that much? I am using a cheap USB one that costs 22 bucks off the egg.

My eyes were playing tricks on me. I thought the area where your mice are sitting was not part of the top of your desk but a separate stand attached to the end of the desk. This is what I was looking to buy, but only with 2 DVI and 2 VGA since my video cards came with 1 VGA and 1 DVI not 2 DVI.

Andhar: That is the one that i use at work and it works pretty well. Only problem is one of my cables has gone bad so the screen has a yellow tint. if i jiggle the cable around then it comes up clear.

DVI showed me just how bad XP looks. Everything on my XP computer has jaggies. i can't stand to look at that computer anymore, it is now just a media server more than anything.

in fact i may have just convinced my boss to purchase the dual monitor KVM for my office workstations. these forums are great.

during my last move a guitar amp was placed next to a tv and crt monitor. I still have the TV but the monitor could not be recovered. The screen eventually turned pink.

who are you referring to in your previous post?

well done. sano.

thanks :)

there's more to that pic than meets the eye. you see the blue heat spreaders next to the gfx card well they are glued to the chipset because it over heated and reduced my overclock. this is because the case rotates the motherboard upside down and causes the heat pipe that covers the chipset to work in reverse. the full spec:-

CPU: AMD 4200 x2 Windsor core 2.2ghz@2.6ghz (217x12)
Cooler: Thermalright XP-90C with 90mm Vantec Tornado 7v modded
Memory: 2x 1GB OCZ PC4000 mem timings 3,8,3,3
Motherboard: Asus A8N-SLI Premium
Gfx: XFX 7800 GT Extreme (gpu 450@501 mem 1050@1201) with an Artic cooler
Hard disk: 2x 7200.10 250GB Seagate Barracudas 16mb cache in RAID 0
PSU: 550w Enermax PSU
Case: Lian Li v1000
Sound: Audigy 5.1
Media: 16x Pioneer DVDRW

el_ricardo: thanks

Do you think you have enough monitors?

Actually there are 7 running computers in the room at the moment and 2 KVMs and 3 LCDs (my webserver is headless) so nope not really I was considering attaching a 4th LCD but I am holding off to see if I can get along with out it.

People actually keep their cases on? Im always moving wires around my case, taking the sides off all the time would be hellish.

For the longest time I didn't have a side on my gaming rig because I was too lazy to put it back on, I had added a hard drive and had it sitting on top of a plastic container outside of the case. it kept my feet warm hehe.

I've got a 1 year old running around now so I have to these days.

My laptop (http://ogunderground.com/random/workstation/IMG_1257.JPG)
Also featured in the picture: Can of travel-sized AXE (Pheonix, Clix smells like roadkill on a hot summer day), my KORG tuner, my camera's lens cap, my TI Nspire CAS graph link CD (It makes a good coaster), the front side of the case to a network adapter that isn't working properly, my English 11 book, and part of my multi-function printer.
This is where I collect viruses (http://ogunderground.com/random/workstation/IMG_1258.JPG). And I'm serious. I have a few that not even the best AV software can get rid of.
Also featured in this picture: my NSpire CAS, a screencap of my NSpire CAS in the graphlink software, various CDs, the rest of my printer, half of a pen, the carrying case for my old camera, and an iPod cable.
