View Full Version : Unstable Sid?

I'm curious if anyone's had this idea. The post title isn't specific, but it's how I imagine this distro working. Instead of just offering the latest "cutting-edge" apps, a la Sid, instead a software system is in place that upgrades software directly from a CVS or SVN, with rollback tools (like Conary) allowing you to easily revert to an old setup that was more stable. You could choose to freeze packages (i.e. only upgrade when the final release comes out, and is packaged by the devs), and the essential packages, e.g. wget, kernel, etc. would be manageable only via official distro packages.

So the apps are as cutting-edge as possible, but the system can stay stable.

I like the sound of that.

For those truly addicted to bleeding-edge. Of course, I wouldn't be the target user...I'm running Debian stable.

I like bleeding edge, I just don't like all the bugs that come with it.:(
