Has anyone here built their own LFS (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/)?
It looks like a cool idea, and would be a great way to learn about the inner workings of Linux (I don't know why I need to know, just do :P).
I'm guessing its a bit beyond me but I think I'll play with it and hopefully learn something from it.

Actually it looks pretty easy if you can read a manual. I have often thought about building a Linux from Scratch version of Oz. I have also thought about building a Debian based and Slackware based versions of Oz.

Then a friend told me I should just focus on my rPath version of Oz Enterprise/Linux Nirvana....

So far I have taken his advice but you never know I may take a break and build something else. ;)

Its not simple but I am sure you will learn quite a bit if you stick with it.

Exactly, this will force me to learn more.
I've always relied heavily on patience and common sense when it comes to computers and haven't had too many problems.
Just looking at the manual I can see I'm going to have to make friends with the terminal (until now we've only been acquaintances, he invites me over to talk now and then, but I can never understand a word he's saying so I try to distance myself from him).

I kembrace your terminal, also take a look at YOPER a distro built using Linux from Scratch.I know I should, but if I don't need to do it, then I tend not to.
I guess I do use it more than I realise, but if theres something I can do in a GUI its a lot more comfortable.
And I will look into Yoper as well sounds interesting.

I had built LFS in Sep 2005 and faced two minor problems. You can read about it on my blog. (http://kagashe.blogspot.com/2005/09/build-your-own-linux-distribution-from.html)
