In India, a local call costs INR 1 (USD 1/40) and an sms costs 50p (USD 1/80).. i dont think mobile service rates are that low anywhere in the world. I live in India, and was quite surprised to find the difference in the rates
in EU, an sms puts you back by .5 euros.. that is about INR 30=60 smses!!!

Now I understand why all that cold-call tele-marketing has been outsourced to India.

And while I'm on the subject, I hope none of the Indian tele-marketing people on these forums has taken personal offence at my abuse - I do that to all tele-marketers (except sexy sounding women).

Here in Switzerland SMS costs .13 euros / 016 USD - some compagnies offer them at .06 euros per SMS.
MMS = 0.32 euros /039 USD

I've got a pre-paid card in my mobile and that phone company -Sunrise- offers me to send 60 SMS and 50 MMS for free every month. Only via internet.
My Internet provider (Cablecom) offers 50 free SMS per month via Internet.
