I went mad and logged into root last night

At about 1AM, I woke up in sweat. My wife was still asleep. I carefully slid through the total darkness of our bedroom, through the amber-cast hallway, past my daughter's room, and into to office. I slowly latched the door behind me, booted up my tower, and followed the instructions to log in as root. I ran my hands over the keys, nearly pressing, and let my heart slam into my throat for every second until, some time later, I had to log off.

This morning, I took a shower. But I still feel so dirty.
