I'm thinking about installing kubuntu and testing out the new kde 4 alpha; I think the beta is due out in a week or two which is good. Last time I tried Kubuntu though was over a year ago now and I didn't like it at all, it was slow and had a real klunky feeling (pun intended). But now I have heard that they have changed over to more of a kde apps only type distro, replacing open office with koffice and all that stuff which sounds cool.

So I want to know if it has changed to something better.

Get a minimal Ubuntu install and install KDE4. I don't think it's is Kubuntu yet.

BTW, when will KDE4 be used in Kubuntu? Gutsy or Gutsy+1?

not really, try kubuntu gutsy (or gutsy+1) when it's out

opensuse has better kde4 packages than kubuntu. Best solution is really to build from svn
