I'll be putting a new computer together in the next couple days and was planning on using a Raid 0. My old machine had an ide drive as well that I used various flavors of Linux on but never did put one on my raid 0 that I had in that machine. My new machine I don't plan on using any IDE harddrives at all.
I have read of some issues with getting raid to work inside of Ubuntu. Is this still the case? Is sata in a non raid setup supported fine? I may end up putting in a larger sata drive in a non raid setup and then have my two smaller sata drives as a raid as well.
I'll admit to being somewhat lazy to look these answers up, but I figure someone here may have been through it all already. Some of the information on raids has been pretty unhelpful that I have looked at as well.
I will be using this motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813128017
It guess it has 2 different controllers on it but the intel sata connections don't support raid so I would be using a JMicron/Gigabyte raid controller.
