View Full Version : The BAD! Movie List

RAV TUX
June 6th, 2007, 02:13 AM
We have all seen the The GOOD movie list (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=464302) inspired from this thread Anybody see any good movies at the Theater lately? (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=462561)

This thread is the BAD! Movie list, a list of movies that you advise not to waste your money on, main stream, independent, renters, etc.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is:

1. "300"

(if any body else can add to the BAD movie list fire away)

Cat in the Hat *shudders at the name*

Oh, and Final Fantasy Spirits Within. That, was such a BOMB! I feel so sad, thats really what caused so many problems for Square... they should have never made it. Ever!

Snakes on a plane:

This movie is so terrible that it's doomed to be a cult classic. I own it, and I've even watched it a few times, but I could only recommend it to people with a serious excess of cash and nothing better to do.

batman (1966) (imdb (http://imdb.com/title/tt0060153/); wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman_%281966_film%29))

don't get me wrong: i own and enjoy both of those movies (:o) but they really are very bad. so bad that they're good, imo.

The Wind and The Lion, Sean Connery plays the last desert arab pirate in Morroco, I actually used to think this was one of my favorite movies as a child. I waiting years for it to come out on DVD, then when I finally got it I realized how terribly it is.

All the Freddy Krueger saga :p I mean, they're supposed to be horror movies but in fact they make me laugh (and I don't mean laugh well, but laugh ironically)... besides this type of horror movies are really bad (I prefer films like The Ring, or Sixth Sense when it comes to mystery movies... plain horror movies are so boring).

The list could go on endlessly but I'd say another horror-like movie Dirty Dancing :D

Probably the worst movie I have ever seen would have to be "Wolfen Ninja". It was so phony, cheesy and corny that I had to shut it off after about 10 minutes. My wife had picked the movie and to this day when we see a bad movie we still say "Wolfen Ninja was worse!"

The thing that I love about threads like this one is that it completely validates the saying "There's no accounting for taste." At least half of the movies that Rav has posted are ones that I've thoroughly enjoyed.

I guess it's time for my contribution.....Phantoms (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119891/). My friend made me watch this about 6-7 years ago, and when it was over I nearly punched him in the face for making me sit throught that 90 minute steaming pile....

Had to laugh some of Rav Tux's choices as a few of them are some of my favorite films - if you stick his choices in Rotten Tomatoes then it gets 81%! Gotta feeling that not many people will be agreeing with his choices.

Worst film for me recently was The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, truely awful...so much gore, so little interest.

I can't argue with most of your positive picks.

Silence of the Lambs is a great movie, though -- I think, anyway. Shaun of the Dead is very entertaining. I thought Scanner Darkly was very inventive, though it's certainly not everybody's cup of tea. I also quite liked Eternal Sunshine -- again, I can understand that not appealing to everyone, but I certainly think it's a long way from "the worst."

Some of the worst movies I've seen in recent memory:

Alone in the Dark
Amityville Horror (remake)
Blade Trinity
Bloodrayne
Darkness Falls
The Day After Tomorrow
Fear Dot Com
House of the Dead
Identity
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Men in Black II
Phantoms
Psycho (remake)
Volcano
White Noise

King Cobra (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138797/) - poorly written excuse for a film about a 30 foot king cobra/diamondback rattlesnake hybrid terrorizing a town during a beerfest. The only highlight of this is Pat Morita (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001552/) as a herpetologist, and his utterly priceless fight to the death with the snake at the end of the movie.

I caught this one Sunday afternoon on a TV station when I was living in Southern California. I came into it about 10 minutes after it started, and I decided to watch it until a commercial came on - figuring that they would say the name of the film and I could move on with my life. Unfortunately for my eyeballs...the name of the film was never mentioned, and I sat through the whole thing.
