Can anyone recommend an IDE for C/C++ programming?

Anjuta, (apt-get install anjuta) or http://anjuta.sourceforge.net/.

I'm a Kubuntu user, so I use KDevelop. There's actually a lot of IDEs you can use for C++, a lot of people use Anjuta, some use Eclipse, and even a few use NetBeans. But for smaller projects, nothing beats Emacs (or Kate in my case). It all depends on you. It's a personal preference. Try a few and decide what you really want.

You may want to also check the "What's your favorite IDE?" thread stiky(ied) in this forum.
