well , I did this question when Gutsy was announced, but it seems there will be 2 versions:
The "classic" ubuntu distro
and the completely free and open source one (in collaboration with GnewSense)

The gNuiSance people came up with I burning your dog? (http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/I_burning_your_dog) What happened to IceWeasel?

Huh?!

By saying 'the completely free and open source one', this implies that the other is not completely free and open source...

Most Linux distros aren't 100% open-source apparently. There are more often than not certain binary "blobs" in the kernel that are not completely open-source I believe.

Unfortunately, in it's quest to be the most usable desktop distribution, compromises have had to be made. This new variation of Ubuntu, this totally free edition, is the fruit of that compromise. Ubuntu started including things that are not COMPLETELY open, but are distributable, etc. in order to ease new users pain. Drivers and so on.
In doing this, Ubuntu failed to appeal to die-hard Free-software advocates, and that's what this is about, in my opinion.

There is some non free software in Ubuntu. Right now there are a bunch of binary firmware blobs to make wireless work mostly. There is also talk of including 3D proprietary drivers into it in order to get full video card functionality. Sad as it may be, usability requires sacrifices sometimes.

So what will this new open source Ubuntu variant be called?
