For those in the USA, what are you doing this Memorial Day Weekend?

I first plan a (mid-day) big breakfast today then My Wife, My Sister-in-Law and I plan to go visit the Arlington Cemetery In Virgina.

Perhaps see the New Pirates of the Caribbean Movie...

It's 3:30 in Texas. I just took up a huge brisket and four very large racks of ribs plus a small baby back rack of ribs.

Just a few friends to come over today for BBQ, my famous beans and home made BBQ sauce, perfect for the ribs. Lots of iced tea and a few cookies for desert. Lots of laughs and maybe an early nap.

I am pretty sure there are one or two more holidays dedicated to army personnel.

-SESE I am originally from Texas and I miss the kind of BBQ's you speak of, My Dad does the best BBQ I know, he has won awards for his homemade Chili and honestly I have yet to have found home made hot sauce as good as mine.

Texas style BBQ is what I miss most about Texas.

Well after our big mid-day breakfast my wife and I were to tired so we caught up on much needed sleep, I did play a CD I bought in Gettysburg, My wife and I plan to go to Gettysburg on Memorial Day. The CD I bought has the Gettysburg Address on it which I love.

Not doing much here, except relaxing. We did go to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3 At World's End, then did some shopping, had dinner and we're now going to watch some DVD's. Tomorrow we'll probably clean, do some laundry, and maybe catch another movie. Monday we plan on sleeping in, and enjoy it being a nice, quiet day...I may have to log in to my work computer from home just to make sure there are no problems, but won't be on it for more than an hour.

I'll make a deal with you. Give me a shipping address and you pay the freight collect and I'll send you a slab of ribs, cut or uncut, from my smoker. Just thaw, heat and eat.

A slab of ribs here go for about $13 - $20 and fuel and wood....maybe $25 plus freight.

Don't get any better than this.

Maybe I should post a pic. We had a stack of ribs over a foot high along with a huge brisket. We made a big crock pot of BBQ beans and most of the beans were gone and most of the ribs, maybe a half a slab, but none of the brisket.

Dang good. Friends said it was the best yet.

We have some left over ribs in the fridge. Why don't you come over tomorrow for lunch and we will finish the ribs plus the banana cream pie that one of the guests brought tonight. We have a fridge full of food and we need to do something with it.

Monday we are just cooking hot dogs and burgers.

Actually, I just did the math. Even though my truck gets 28 to 29 MPG on the highway, it would cost around $100 in gas for the round trip... Oy. When you are outside on Monday, give a wave towards the Ozarks. ;)

Nah, that isn't rude. I cut my teeth in the Off the Wall section of the Gentoo forums. You can't survive there without your tinfoil hat and asbestos undies... :D


I'm very bored and just keep checking the "New Posts" fairly often. It is the easiest way that I have found to catch replies to one's posts in real-time.
