or you can just make your own! The GIMP is a terrible thing to waste.

1) snag any pic off the net (well, technically, anything not copywrited *cough*!)
2) save it to your desktop for easy access
3) right-click on it and "Open with... > gThumb Viewer"
4) Image > Resize...

...you should be able to take it from there. Just 90x90 it and you'll be good to go. You can also mess around with balance, contrast, brightness and other goodies to perk it up. Take a color pick and make it noir black-and-white. Take a bland pic and spruce up the color...or dull it out to make it look like a morgue photo.

If you're REALLY industrious, you can crack open GIMP and do some thing more professional looking.

Now, your REAL question is probably "how can I browse the default stock of avatars?" I have no clue...LOL! (Personally, I like to make my own avatars.)

Honestly I have found for the most part if you are using a custom avatar for this forum here at ubuntuforum.org, it will automagically resize your avatar for you.

If not just use the GIMP to resize your image.
