Just found this page: http://popcon.ubuntu.com/ where you can see how popular different packages are. There is probably a big bias because there are only 400 people which have it installed. And those 400 are probably not the average Ubuntu users... (number of people using it almost hasn't increased since sep. 2004) So I hope more people will install the popularity-contest package so there will be better results... :roll:

I just did it. You need to run sudo dpkg-reconfigure popularity-contest. It would be great if everybody could join in this, to give a better idea of which packages to prioritize.

So it didn't do anything all the time I had it installed... :mad:
Not a very sensible default to have it disabled...

Edit: while installing through synaptic, it asks you if you want it enabled, so no need for dpkg-reconfigure... :-)

Wouldn't it be better to mesure it by the amount of downloads on the website??
Just a thought.

Yes but it's installed by default anyway, just not enabled, due to privacy concerns.
